Position Description

We’re always looking to add skilled freelance copyeditors, indexers, and proofreaders to our freelance talent pool to support a wide range of projects.

Preference will be given to candidates based in the UK or US.

Ideal candidates have:

  • Excellent command of grammar, punctuation, and style
  • Experience editing or indexing various content types (e.g., articles, books, academic publications, marketing content, and more)
  • A sharp eye for clarity, consistency, and tone
  • Ability to meet deadlines and follow project guidelines
  • Familiarity with style guides (Chicago, APA, MLA, etc.) and editorial best practices
  •  

Bilingual proficiency is highly valued, especially for candidates who are native speakers of German, Polish, French, Spanish, or other languages.

  • For indexers: experience creating accurate, user-friendly indexes and working with indexing software. Familiarity with academic humanities and trade texts is a plus.
  • Ability to provide copyediting or proofreading in a second language is a plus

Please note: All qualified copyediting and proofreading candidates are required to complete a sample test to be considered.
