I just got back from our first conference of 2023, the Future of Education Technology Conference (FETC) ,which was January 23rd-26th in New Orleans. I was excited to attend this conference not only because of the networking opportunities and the chance to geek out in the exhibit hall with all of the new innovations that shape and adapt to the way students learn, but New Orleans also happens to be one of my favorite cities. This was my first time attending FETC and it won’t be my last.
As a former classroom teacher, I look back at the conversations about what the classroom of the future would look like and, judging by the exhibit hall, the future is now. It was incredible to see some of the displays and check out all the latest innovations that are making teaching and learning more engaging than ever before. Between meeting existing clients and prospective new ones and learning more about all of the resources and tools available in education, time in the exhibit hall was time well spent.
One common theme that I picked up on throughout the conference was collaboration, and it was great to see the EdTech community coming together and taking on less of a rivalry mindset and more of a “playing nice with others approach.” The idea of companies seeking to engage with other companies with similar core values for common themes including education, inclusion and diversity, and accessibility is often talked about, but when it becomes a reality, it benefits everyone. Here at Westchester, collaboration is one of our core values as we work with our client partners, and vendor partners. Check out our most recent webinar, “Best Practices for Engaging With a Vendor Partner Network,” to learn more about how we work with two other providers in the space.
The next conferences we will be attending are BETT, March 29-31 in London, and the ASU+GSV Summit, April 17th-19th in San Diego, CA. If you plan on attending either event, reach out and let’s set up some time to talk.
